The walls of Beaucastel have been reinvented. Rooted in the land of its birth, the Château’s new architecture celebrates the union of nature and know-how. A project in which the materials are allowed to speak, where each stone expresses the continuation of a story that began some five centuries ago.
Château de Beaucastel has always been noted for its deep links to the earth. Today, this relationship has found a new expression through its architecture, designed as an extension of the landscape, humble and alive.
The project, led by Studio Mumbai and Studio Méditerranée, pays homage to the beauty of the site through the pertinence of the materials and the simplicity of design.
The rammed earth walls, built in part from sand and clay sourced on site, embody this desire to build with what the earth offers. Stone, limewash, and local pebbles blend with concrete to create an ensemble that breathes, evolves and communicates with the Southern light.
Each space has been designed to harmonise with natural rhythms: the blowing of the Mistral, the sun's path across the sky, the coolness of the night.
Underground, the new cellar unveils bioclimatic architecture where the wine is kept at a constant temperature thanks to a natural system of ventilation and water management. Nothing is artificial, all is balance, just like the Beaucastel wines, the fruit of patience, intuition and harmony.
This metamorphosis represents not rupture, but continuity. It conveys the Famille Perrin philosophy: build with respect, create without artifice, pass on a legacy that links the hand of man and the power of life.
In so doing, Beaucastel reaffirms its identity as a place of truth, elegance and moderation, where the architecture is the reflection of nature and time.
Les murs de pisé, réalisés à partir des sables et argiles extraits sur place, incarnent cette volonté de bâtir avec ce que la terre offre. La pierre, la chaux et le galet local se mêlent au béton de site, donnant naissance à un ensemble qui respire, évolue et dialogue avec la lumière du Sud.
Chaque volume a été pensé pour s’accorder aux rythmes naturels : le souffle du Mistral, la course du soleil, la fraîcheur de la nuit.
Sous terre, le nouveau chai révèle une architecture bioclimatique où le vin repose à température constante, grâce à un système naturel de ventilation et de gestion des eaux. Rien n’est artificiel, tout est en équilibre, à l’image des vins de Beaucastel, fruits de patience, d’intuition et d’harmonie.
Cette métamorphose n’est pas une rupture mais une continuité. Elle traduit la philosophie de la Famille Perrin : construire avec respect, élever sans artifice, transmettre un héritage qui lie la main de l’homme à la force du vivant.
Ainsi, Beaucastel affirme une fois encore son identité : un lieu de vérité, d’élégance et de mesure, où l’architecture devient le reflet de la nature et du temps.
