The Perrin family made its mark as a pioneer very early on, organic in the 1950s, biodynamic in 1974, well before such words became fashionable. But long before the methods, the conviction already existed that for a wine to truly express itself, the grapes must encounter light, wind and rain. They must speak of the greatness of their origins.

At Beaucastel, the vine is part of a living universe in constant dialogue: the earth, the animals, the stars, in a vibrant ecosystem that the Perrins protect with a passion. Every day, in every parcel, the plant is stimulated so that it can draw strength and balance from within its own nature.

Among the 13 historic grape varieties of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Grenache is king but does not dominate. Here it is tamed and enhanced. The rhythm is dictated by the art of blending; a science patiently transmitted in which each variety reveals its own voice and contributes to the symphony. Mourvèdre, Syrah, Muscardin and Vaccarèse bring structure and depth; Grenache and Cinsault a velvety warmth; Counoise and Picpoul freshness and aromatic grace.

The winemaking is never overbearing; in a show of modesty, it allows the terroir to speak for itself. After the harvest, the hand-picked grapes are sorted carefully, and each variety is fermented separately in wooden or concrete vats before being aged in large oak barrels. The intricate work of blending comes next, then the wines bide their time for a full year in these great barrels, then rest again in bottles in the cellars, until they attain perfect balance.
